A hellish woman [entries|friends|calendar]
Hel

About

She has great possessions there; her walls are exceeding high and her gates great. Her hall is called Sleet-Cold; her dish, Hunger; Famine is her knife; Idler, her slave; Sloven, her maidservant; Pit of Stumbling, her threshold, by which one enters; Disease, her bed; Gleaming Bale, her bed-hangings. She is half blue-black and half flesh-colored, and very lowering and fierce.

Not a great time to be a death goddess. I did my best to protect the roots and the plants that dwell underground. It's not part of my usual role, though, if anyone has power to spare check, I'd like to make sure that it was effective and I didn't taint miss anything.

Earth-mother, Agriculture gods, if there's anything else you can think of that I could do, please let me know.

I am never doing work for Spike again! Urgh, they dumbed down my science, didn't read my notes, and have absolutely no grasp of history! Honestly, if they wanted to play in the sandbox, they should have either done the research or stuck to their Ultimate Fighter nonsense. Okay, well, not nonsense, it's actually a fairly good show and beats the hell out of the bloodless sports -- who thought up some of those? But that's beside the point. If they're going to do a show about historical combat and go through the trouble of talking to athropologists who were, you know, actually there at the time? They should at least use the information! But no they have be idiots and dumb down the fighting skills on both sides, play into the established stereotypes and have basically no grounding in factual evidence.

From now, I'm sticking with my work for History. Not only is Terry gorgeous, but he and the producers actually listen when they get expert opinions.

Spring break was wonderful. I went to Virginia, which was sort of boring to be honest, but I got to let Garm off the leash and he went running in the woods and was so happy. I think he’s missed it. So now that I’m back in the city, I’m thinking about buying a place with a little yard for him. Somewhere he can run and stretch his legs – hellhounds aren’t really made for apartment living, you know? And I could also host parties! There’s way more Norse here not sure I’m happy about that and this place is really too small.

I think it’d make a great treat to myself, for taking on a full teaching load this semester. I can’t believe I’m a full time professor now, instead of just a guest lecturer.
